Native to Central and South America,
these strict nocturnal animals are rarely seen by humans in
their natural habitat, but you can see Cheech up close and
personal. She and her 2 cage mates were captive born and were
owner give-ups in March 2007. She looks and acts quite like a
primate, but is in fact related to a raccoon! Cheech is handled
only by AFA handlers, because of her temperamental behavior.
She'll do just about anything for a banana or marshmallow, so
we always have some on hand to keep her on her best behavior!
